Carl Froch gave the most Carl Froch answer ever when asked about the attendance at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday night.
In the build-up to Tyson Fury’s heavyweight title defence against Dillian Whyte, much was said about the expected attendance at Wembley being record-breaking, history-making and a crowd fit to witness one of the finest British fighters ever, live and in the flesh.
One man who knows all about sizeable Wembley attendances for boxing matches is Carl Froch. He once boxed rival George Groves at the home of English football, a fight which was witnessed by 80,000 – not that he ever bangs on about it.

Froch will undoubtedly have been a little bitter that the figure for that fight was beaten by Fury and Whyte, but it doesn’t even look as though he’s entirely convinced that it was. He claimed that there was plenty of empty seats yesterday evening…

While there was a mass exodus from Wembley soon after the fight came to an end, it was absolutely packed to the rafters as Tyson Fury made his ring walk. You didn’t need to go around counting heads to see that it was indeed a sellout.
The remarkable thing is, were Fury and Anthony Joshua to meet on U.K soil at some point in the future, the demand for tickets would be even greater. Is there a venue in the country capable of housing that many fans?
We ought to ask Carl Froch. If there is one, he’s probably fought there.
