🚨 Andre Ward makes prediction for fantasy Carl Froch vs. Joe Calzaghe fight

Andre Ward has given his take on what would have happened if Carl Froch and Joe Calzaghe had collided in the ring.

The stars didn’t quite align for a Calzaghe vs. Froch showdown with the Welshman at the end of his career and chasing paydays against the likes of Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jr.

But that hasn’t stopped fans wondering who would have come out on top and Froch’s old foe Andre Ward has given his assessment.

Speaking to Sky Sports the American believes Calzaghe would have had too much for ‘The Cobra’.

He said: “I don’t think Froch could have kept up with the pace. Calzaghe had good footwork. That’s kryptonite to Carl Froch, he doesn’t have great feet at all.”

“I’m not going to say Calzaghe would have blown Froch out cause Froch had the desire, the unwillingness to give up, we saw that with Jermaine Taylor when he kept coming and eventually knocked the door down. He’s going to have that in a fight with Joe Calzaghe.”

“I think it would have been a competitive fight but I think Joe’s activeness and punch count would ultimately bewilder Carl Froch even though he’d never yield or give up and he’d have ultimately beaten him on a points victory.”

  1. I pretty much agree with Andre the dick-puncher on this one. Froch has some dog in him but left himself open too much and relied on his chin. Calzaghe would have exploited that and hit Carl with shots he wouldn’t see coming. Lacy was a tough dude too and look what happened to him. Froch was workmanlike but Calzaghe was a fkn artist. Calzaghe had a chin too.. He’s had to get off the floor a few times, dig deep and come back stronger.
