Benjamin Mendy breaks lockdown rules to throw New Year’s party

Sky Sports are reporting that Manchester City will be launching an internal investigation into Benjamin Mendy and his reported New Year’s party. City have said that they are “disappointed” Mendy’s actions and in their official statement they also said

“The club is aware of a New Year’s Eve Covid-19 breach involving Benjamin Mendy and the subsequent media reporting of it,”

“The player has publicly apologised for his error, the club is disappointed to learn of the transgression and will be conducting an internal investigation.”

City’s latest game was postponed due to an outbreak in the City squad that saw Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker test positive for Covid-19 on Christmas day. It’s incredibly careless from Mendy with an outbreak at his club to organise a gathering of people in his own house.

City will be without 5 first team players in their clash due to Covid-19 with Chelsea today but Pep was unable to name the players in his latest press conference due to privacy reasons so we are unable to know if Mendy is on this list.

What punishment should Benjamin get for this careless act?
