Ben Davies forced to deleted controversial ‘scousers’ tweet after joining Liverpool

Liverpool FC confirmed the signing of centre-back Ben Davies from Preston North End on deadline day but before joining the 25-year-old has some housekeeping to do on Twitter.

The 25-year-old centre-back put pen to paper on a deal with the Reds on deadline day to tie up his transfer from the Championship club Preston to help bolster Jürgen Klopp’s defensive ranks.

Liverpool forked out £2 million for the defender who will be a welcome addition amid Liverpool’s current defensive injury crisis.

Davies may be met with a hostile reception when fans are allowed to return to live games after the new signing was left red-faced after one fan rooted out an old Tweet of his that wasn’t very complimentary to scousers.

A screen grab of a comment claimed to be left by Davies on Twitter resurfaced online which sees Liverpool’s latest edition say: “Nobody likes Scousers. Not even Scousers like Scousers.”

This isn’t the first time a footballer has been caught out with old content from their social media and it’s likely to go relatively unnoticed but it is a little embarrassing considering Liverpool’s fan base has a huge scouse foundation.
