Sean O’Donoghue is a major injury doubt for Cork’s Munster championship opener at the end of this month.

The Cork captain suffered an injury against Limerick at the start of their Allianz League campaign months ago and was in contention to make it back for the Munster Championship.

Although he is back running, Cork selector Donal O’Mahony claimed that he is a doubt for the clash with Waterford at the end of the month.

“Wayne [Sherlock] had an injury like that when he was playing and when it happened to Sean that night against Limerick, he said, ‘That’ll be seven or eight weeks, it’s very awkward’. With his experience and the fact that he’s our captain and our leader, we’d love to have him back,” he said.
