Wes Hoolahan or ‘Wessi’ as he’s affectionally known by Irish football fans has proven that age is only a number after the 38-year-old scoped the Player of the Month award for January 2021.

Hoolahan currently plays for Cambridge United who proudly sit top of League 2, three points clear of Forest Green though the Yellows have played two more games.

One of Hoolahan’s stand out performances came against Crawley Town where the former Ireland international pick up his fourth goal of the season.

The former Ireland international was the third scorer in Cambridge’s victory and it wasn’t even the best goal.

The pick of the bunch came from United right-back Kyle Knoyle who hammered home from the edge of the box to give the home side a 2-1 advantage going into the break.

Hoolahan’s goal came much later on in the game in the 85th minute when he picked the ball up on the edge of the box before calmly slotting home across the keeper.

The Dubliner showed his trademark composure as he set himself up before registering his fourth goal of the season for the table toppers.
