New Zealand 15-25 Argentina: Pumas beat All Blacks for first time after Tri-Nations victory
Argentina claim their first win over the All Blacks in 30 attempts following a 25-15 Tri-Nations victory in Sydney.

The Pumas inflict New Zealand’s second consecutive defeat – the first time they have lost back-to-back matches in nine years.

Argentina have have claimed their first victory over New Zealand after 30 attempts with a 25-15 Tri-Nations tournament victory in Sydney.

Fly-half Nicolas Sanchez was the hero for The Pumas after scoring all of Argentina’s points with a try, six penalties and a conversion.

It was no easy victory for The Pumas as they had to hold off a fierce late onslaught from the All Blacks to secure their famous victory.

Argentina were given little to no chance of claiming a win over the mighty New Zealand due to them being kept sidelined for almost the entire season due to the current global COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s no surprise that Sanchez scooped the man of the match award but it was a solid team effort that secured the hallowed victory as the Pumas tackled, rucked and ran the ball for 80 minutes like their lives depended on it.

“It’s a big game for Argentina rugby today,” said captain Pablo Matera.

“There’s a lot of guys who have pulled this jersey on before us and this allowed us to get here. We’re used to (adversity), it’s always tough for Argentina. We just wanted to show our people that if you work hard, you get your rewards.”
