Jeremain Lens tackle on Mamadou Sakho at the Stadium of Light last night was so horrific it prompted police to get involved as one officer has to calm Jurgen Klopp down as he was so incensed by the challenge.
To say he was not happy with the tackle would be an understatement, with the German saying post game: “I am not too sorry. Please, it was a foul. Of course, I was angry. For me, that is a red card, finished.”
That provoked a reaction from the evergreen Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce, who branded the Reds boss as “soft”.
“He’s a soft German. It’s not a red card, it’s a yellow. It’s a foul.”
However, it’s hard to agree with him on this occasion; Lens’ challenge was dangerous and could have caused serious damage.
