Monterrey’s Rogelio Funes Mori earned himself the BenchWarmers stamp of approval for his savage celebration after scoring a 95th minute goal against Atletico San Luis.

Rogelio Funes Mori, not to be mistaken with the Villarreal centre-back who used to play for Everton, is one of the most esteemed marksmen in Liga MX, netting 15 goals in 28 appearances this campaign to date.

As he raced through on goal in the 95th minute of Monterrey’s clash with Atletico San Luis, with the home side already a goal to the good, he found himself with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Funes Mori kept his cool, rounded keeper Axel Werner, who is on-loan at Atletico San Luis from Atletico Madrid, before slotting home into the back of the net.

However, with the pair seemingly having some sort of lingering beef between them, Funes Mori decided to immediately celebrate in front of the goalkeeper, who will have been annoyed enough to have conceded.

The referee brandished the yellow card, with several Atletico San Luis players rushing over, with tempers at boiling point, but Funes Mori did not appear to be bothered one bit.

He had his moment, he rubbed it in the face of the goalkeeper and Monterrey took all three points from the contest. I know who I’ll be signing for my Football Manager save…
