Galway might have lost the game against Waterford in the hurling qualifier at Semple Stadium but it was a historic day for Joe Canning as he passed out Henry Shefflin in and this pass to set up Jason Flynn’s goal was simply class and just shows how the game has changed, in times gone by Canning would have taken the point.

This game was a repeat of the All-Ireland final from 2017, but this time it was the Deise men that came out on top, have we seen the last of Joe Canning in a Galway shirt? At 32 years of age, we hope not, surely his still got plenty to give to the game of hurling, because the man is a joy to watch.
