Video: “If he makes a mistake that is my fault” – Klopp speaks about experiment in defence

Jurgen Klopp is struggling to put out his ideal XI for Liverpool this season with many players struggling with injuries, Joe Gomez, Van Dijk and Matip are all out with injury and Klopp has had to put 2 midfielders into the centre back positions. Fabinho has slotted in perfectly in defence, often playing alongside Matip bu more recently he has had to be the more experienced defender when playing alongside youth players. This is how much Klopp is struggling for defenders.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has had to bite the bullet and switch from midfield to defence for tonight’s game in Southampton which could see Liverpool go 3 points clear at the top of the table. With the title race well and truly on, rival teams will be loving the fact Klopp is so unsure in defence but Jurgen feels that Henderson should not get any blame for a mistake tonight as he’s not a natural defender.

Klopp is accepting that Henderson is not a natural defender and this is a risk but if it pays off then all credit should go to Jordan as he’s the one on the pitch doing the work.
