Frank Warren has provided some insight in how the heavyweight boxing landscape could look like over the coming months.
Fury, the reigning WBC heavyweight champion of the world, has made it clear that he will no longer be retiring from professional boxing – shock!
The Gypsy King will be defending his belt against Derek Chisora at the start of December, a fight that absolutely nobody asked for, but we’re getting nevertheless.
Where will Fury go after (inevitably) beating Chisora, though? Well, his promoter Frank Warren has provided some insight into his next three bouts…
🎯 Frank Warren has mapped out his heavyweight world title plan for the next year: [@UnibetLowdown]
🥊 Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora III
📆 Dec 3rd🥊 Joe Joyce Returns
📆 February 2023🥊 Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk
📆 Feb/March 2023🥊 Tyson Fury vs Joe Joyce
📆 Summer 2023— Michael Benson (@MichaelBensonn) October 29, 2022
It’s an interesting plan from Warren, but anyone who understands the boxing game will know full well that this is never going to come to fruition.
Like it or not, Fury will be roped into a rematch with Oleksandr Usyk if he wins and he’ll certainly be demanding one if he were to lose.
That makes a potential fight with Joe Joyce in the summer of next year seriously unlikely, unless Usyk were to move immediately back down to cruiserweight.
