There’s been a brilliant exchange between two former Liverpool greats on Twitter – over a tattoo tribute to the Premier League club.
John Arne Riise showed off a new tattoo on Twitter this week – the words “You’ll Never Walk Alone” inked down his left leg.
Riise captioned the image: “Proud to show my new tattoo. A tribute to the amazing club and fans of Liverpool.
“I’m very happy and hope you all like it and understand how much those seven years and your support meant to me.”
The image received almost 8000 likes on Instagram since he posted it, and his tweet about it has been favourited more than 1100 times – so it seems like most Liverpool fans are pretty happy with the Norwegian’s tribute to the club he played with from 2001-2008.
One person who isn’t at all impressed is former footballer and pundit, Dietmar Hamann, who also played for Liverpool during his career – from 1999-2006.
He replied to Riise’s tweet, saying: “You don’t need a tattoo to remember that club you bellend Ginge. Shall I get one?”.

Woah, Didi – don’t hold back, tell us what you really think. It’s even funnier if you imagine Hamann saying it in his German-Scouse hybrid accent.
Doesn’t look like Riise took offence though – he responded by complimenting Hamann – who seems to be using ‘Ginge’ as an affectionate nickname for his former team-mate.
