Troy Deeney: Erling Haaland reminds me of boxing legend Mike Tyson

Former Watford striker Troy Deeney has compared Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland to boxing great Mike Tyson.

Haaland has enjoyed a quite remarkable start to life as a Manchester City player, having already netted 19 goals in all competitions.

Every time he takes to the field, there’s a sense of inevitability that he will not only find the back of the net, but on several occasions, too.

Former Watford striker Troy Deeney, who knows what it takes to score goals in the Premier League, has now had his say on matters.

Erling Haaland is even greater than his statistics suggest, claims Pep Guardiola | Manchester City | The Guardian

Quoted by the Daily Mail, Deeney made the comparison between Haaland and one of the greatest boxers ever to have lived.

“This phenomenal Norwegian reminds me of Mike Tyson in his peak years – where opponents were mentally beaten before they even got in the arena.”

It’s hard to imagine the Southampton squad feeling confident about taking on Haaland at the Etihad this afternoon, especially after losing their manager.

It’s a pretty strong comparison to make from Deeney.
