Tottenham have reportedly entered the running to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah.
Chalobah, who was never considered to be as good of a prospect as his brother Nathaniel, stormed into the Chelsea starting XI at the start of last campaign, taking advantage of players’ late returns from Euro 2020.
The young Englishman proved to Thomas Tuchel that he could be trusted to hold down the fort at right centre-back and was subsequently granted opportunity after opportunity for the Blues last campaign.
However, with Chelsea now trying all they can to get Wesley Fofana through the door, the acceptance is that Chalobah’s game-time in the weeks and months to come will be increasingly limited.
Speculation suggesting he will leave on loan has intensified but what we wouldn’t have expected to see is Standard Sport reporting that Tottenham, of all clubs, have entered the running to sign him.
The report claims that AS Roma and Inter Milan are also keen on signing Chalobah, but it remains to be seen if he would be willing to leave London and sign for a club overseas.
Tottenham is an intriguing proposition for him, but as a Chelsea boy, would Chalobah really be prepared to burn the bridge with the Blues and move to the North side of London this summer?
