Tottenham defender Emerson Royal was reportedly shot at during a recent trip to Brazil.
Emerson, who signed for Tottenham from Barcelona last summer, amid interest from arch-rivals Arsenal, had an underwhelming debut campaign at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
He will undoubtedly be hoping to build on that in the 2022/23 campaign, but if truth be told, he’s fortunate to even be alive and continuing to compete in football, if recent media reports are accurate.
According to Jovem Pan Esporte, Royal was caught in the middle of an exchange of gunfire while out in Brazil. Thankfully, he escaped the incident without any considerable damage done to him.

Antonio Conte, and anyone with any affiliation to Tottenham, will undoubtedly be relieved that Emerson lives to fight another day. Many have not been so fortunate when caught in situations of that nature.
The Sun add that as many as 20 shots were fired in the exchange between a gunman and a police offer. Emerson is mightily lucky that one of those bullets didn’t come in his direction…
