However, VAR had other ideas, ruling it out for offside and putting us on course for 30 more minutes and the prospect of penalties.
Theo Hernandez had other ideas, arriving late on the edge of the Belgium penalty area and firing past Thibaut Courtois with an absolute stunner of a strike to send France through to the final.
