Raheem Sterling has fired a parting shot at Pep Guardiola by revealing he was left ‘fuming’ by his Manchester City exit.
Sterling left English football shocked with his decision to leave Premier League champions Man City to sign for Chelsea after a glistening seven-year stint at the Etihad.
The England star was evidently left frustrated by Pep Guardiola’s continual insistence to use him only as an impact substitute in the bigger games on the calendar.
Sterling wanted more, with Chelsea providing a tempting proposition, but there didn’t appear to be any bad blood between player and the club.
That has now changed, with Sterling revealing to Sky Sports just how angry he was left by the manner of his exit from Man City. He’s quoted saying:
“Everyone wants to feel wanted, football is no different. When you play your heart out, sacrifice some of your kids’ birthdays, and then get treated in a certain way, it’s disappointing.”
“At the time I was fuming, raging, but it’s gone, it’s in the past and I can only focus on the present, which is now, here at Chelsea, and the opportunity I’ve got here to go out and showcase my talents once again.”
Something obviously happened between Sterling and Pep to leave him that enraged, perhaps he will go into details in the future because we’d be intrigued to know the specifics…
