Shamrock Rovers claimed four extra points after a decisive win over Sligo Rovers at Tallaght Stadium tonight.
A opening goal from Ronan Finn in the 13th minute got the homeside off to a perfect start, taking charge of the game from the get-go.
Graham Burke claimed the second first-half goal for Shamrock Rovers in the 38th minute, doubling the task ahead for the visitors.
After the break, there was little improvement on Sligo’s part, compounded by a 58th minute goal from Jack Byrne before Dylan Billy Watts put the game to bed in the 77th minute.
Shamrock Rovers are now 11-points clear of Bohemians at the top of the SSE Airtricity Premier Division table.
Elsewhere, Derry City also got a much-needed win this evening after Conor Clifford netted twice from the penalty spot to overcome Waterford at home.
Derry City sit in sixth, while Waterford shadow Bohs in third.
