It was clear at full time yesterday at Stamford Bridge that Jose Mourinho was far from happy with what he had just endured. It was even more obvious at the final whistle that Jose was not at all impressed with Chelsea manage Antonio Conte.
The two managers exchanged heated words at full time with Jose not at all happy with how Conte celebrated Chelsea’s fourth goal, thinking it was over the top.. It is strange that such a little thing like this would bother Mourinho so much considering the absolute shambolic display that his teamed had showed for the last 90 minutes but this was probably an attempt to draw away from this very fact.
Antonio Conte didn’t seem to take any notice of Mourinho’s rant and hit back with a brilliant comeback..
I was a football player, so I know how to behave on the pitch.
“There were United fans who kept singing, while ours were in silence after a great performance from my team. I wanted to call the crowd to applaud the players, which seems normal enough to me.
“I have great respect for everyone. Nothing happened with Jose, especially as my behaviour seemed normal. I didn’t make fun of or humiliate anyone, as I always demand respect.
“Today, I think it is important to talk about the game and I say my players deserved this type of performance.”
This may need some explaining; Jose Mourinho never made it as a professional footballer so Conte was making a sly dig at this very fact, one in which deep down will hurt Jose I’m sure..
