Robin van Persie has taken to social media to explain the actual extent of his latest knee injury.
It was reported that the 34 year old had torn his ACL whilst in international duty with the Netherlands but the former Premier League striker has cleared the air regarding the actual severity of the injury.
In a statement published on his official Twitter account the Dutch legend said “I have a minor knee injury which has an average recovery time of 3 weeks” much less than the previously reported “career ending injury.”
Thankfully, van Persie’s injury isn’t as bad as first thought and he should be back in no time. You can read the full statement below:

The Netherlands currently sit in 3rd place in Group A with 13 points, 3 points behind second place Sweden and 4 behind group leaders France who have 17 points.
Van Persie is Netherlands’ all-time record scorer with 50 goals from 101 caps.
