A punter at Fairyhouse has appeared to throw a beer in the direction of a racehorse as it crossed the finish line.
The footage, which has gone viral on social media, is from the Happy New Year From Tote.ie Beginners Chase. Grand Paradis was set to cross the line when a fan in a red suit appeared to throw his beer towards the horse and jockey.
Thankfully, the cup did not make contact with its intended target, but the beer may well have ended up on the both of them. Have a look at the video below, which has left racing fans absolutely furious, as you’d expected.

It’s not entirely clear what was going through the punter’s head as he made the decision to throw his beer, but you can see even his friends around him reprimanding him for the act of stupidity.
We can only hope that the video being spread far and wide results in the swift identification of the offender and he is never allowed to step foot on a racecourse again.
