According to Sky Sports Premiership Rugby is to ban all face-to-face celebrations and ice baths as the league tightens up on its Covid-19 protocols.

The league has had to cancel five games in the last 12 with the latest casualty being Northampton Saints v Leicester Tigers after multiple cases of the virus were recorded.

The new restrictions have been introduced in an attempt to stem the surge in matches being cancelled as Covid-19 runs rampant across the UK and Ireland.

Additionally – players are also now forbidden from shaking hands at full time and all team meetings must take place in an outdoor setting or virtually.

Changing rooms will be limited to showering after outdoor training sessions and there will also be no indoor eating permitted.

The changes – as harsh as they may be – are a necessary evil as clubs try gain control over the virus once again and reduce the risk of transmission as figures surge across the UK.
