Self-proclaimed Liverpool fan and retired UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov got a nice surprise while visiting Dubai after he bumped into Liverpool centre-back Virgil van Dijk.
The duo bumped into each other at the NAS Sports Complex in Dubai which is where van Dijk is currently undergoing his rehabilitation.
The Holland international has been sidelined since October after he ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in the Merseyside Derby after a reckless challenge by Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford’s.
While in Dubai van Dijk bumped into the retired UFC lightweight champion, Khabib, who revealed last year that he supports Liverpool and Real Madrid.
The two stopped and posed for a photo as van Dijk continues to work on his rehabilitation from his serious knee injury.
Nurmagomedov shared the photo of him and van Dijk on Instagram where the Russian mixed-martial artist wrote: ‘It was nice to meet you Virgil Van Dijk at NAS. I wish you get well and recover soon. I know what it is like with injures, be patient.’
Van Dijk was initially ruled out for the whole season but Jurgen Klopp has recently said ‘he looks really promising.’
