News broke that Lionel Messi would be free to negotiate a transfer away from Barcelona from January first as he enters the final 6 months of his contract. The Argentine and Barca legend is finally leaving Barcelona it seems and every club in Europe is trying to get a hold of him if they can afford him. It’s easy to assume that Lionel has enough offers that he gets to choose where he will play next, be it PSG, Manchester City or possibly even the MLS.

Spartak Moscow tried to show they could hang with the biggest European clubs by sharing a hilarious screenshot from Instagram messages with it appearing that the club had attempted to enter in friendly negotiations with the 6 time Ballon D’or winner but were immediately shut down. Maybe Messi didn’t see a bright future with the club that currently sit in 3rd place in the Russian Premier League, 6 points behind leaders Zenit. They were looking for someone to improve the squad but maybe they didn’t expect such a harsh response.
