According to The Sun, Manchester United are lining up a British transfer record bid for Real Madrid’s James Rodriuguez.
United already hold the British record after signing Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid for £63m in 2014.
Now The Sun claim that United will need to trump that deal in order to secure the services of the Colombian superstar.
James enjoyed a reasonably good first season at Madrid, earning himself a Ballon D’Or nomination for his creative play behind the attacking trident of Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and three time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo.
A move away from Spain might not be too far fetched as a combination of injuries and a clash with former manager Rafa Benitez has seen the Colombian make just 7 league starts for Madrid this season.
The arrival of Zidane may convince Rodriguez to stay, but if he remains on the margins much longer he may be tempted by a move away.
