Robert Lewandowski broke down in tears after scoring his first World Cup goal against Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia headed into today’s clash with Poland knowing that they would progress to the knockout stages of the World Cup with a victory.
Despite being the dominant force in the contest, Saudi Arabia were twice caught out on the break and subsequently fell to defeat against the Poles.
It was Robert Lewandowski, with his first World Cup goal, who signed and sealed the victory for the Eastern European side, and what a gift it was.
Lewandowski was alert to the situation as the Saudi defender miscontrolled the ball on the edge of his own penalty area.
The Barcelona superstar centre-forward nicked in, pinched the ball and slotted it past the Saudi Arabian goalkeeper to secure all three points for his country.
You could see how much it meant to him, too, with Lewandowski collapsing to the ground and breaking down in tears on the turf.
