A Leeds United supporter landed himself in handcuffs after allegedly directing racial abuse towards the Arsenal bench at Elland Road, reports The Sun.
Sky Sports viewers were alerted to a situation developing at Elland Road after referee Andre Marriner asked Bukayo Saka NOT to celebrate in the corner with the Leeds supporters.
Marriner had been over to speak to representatives of both teams on the sidelines, but we were in the dark over what was actually unfolding during the action.
As is reported by The Sun, a Leeds supporter was allegedly handcuffed by police after accusations were made of racial abuse directed towards the Arsenal bench.
Leeds have released the following statement, as is reported by The Sun: “Racism will not be tolerated at Leeds United and any supporter found to be using racist language will be subject to a life time ban for all Leeds United games.”

“We can confirm that an investigation into claims of racism during the first half of our game with Arsenal today are underway and that one arrest has been made in connection to the allegation.”
We hope that the authorities’ investigation is swift and the punishment given, should the alleged offenders be found guilty, is tough, because there is no room for racism in football or society as a whole.
It’s sad to hear that instances of this nature are still allegedly occurring in our football stadiums.
