Wexford’s magnificent U21 squad beat Kilkenny last night to earn their third Leinster title in a row, but their vanquished opponents appear to have lost the art of being gracious in defeat.
The official Kilkenny GAA Twitter account was criticised for a tweet, since deleted, which described Wexford as: “A County crying out for success”.
The tweet drew a swift response from the Wexford Twitter account.
@KilkennyCLG we are indeed! Kilkenny gracious as always

Other GAA fans also replied to the Tweet, accusing Kilkenny of sour grapes and suggesting they learn to be more gracious.
@KilkennyCLG Don't forget your sour grapes on the way home #3inarow

@KilkennyCLG Christ ye'd want to.learn a bit of manners and class up there.Well done @OfficialWexGAA

Some Kilkenny fans were at pains to distance themselves from the official response and congratulate the Slaneysiders.
@OfficialWexGAA Some of us Cats wished you all well-please don't take one ill-timed tweet as indicative. https://t.co/T7jgScgEsa

To be fair to Kilkenny, they did congratulate Wexford, and some commentators are suggesting the tone of the tweet is being misread out of context.

Kilkenny have yet to respond other than to delete the offending tweet.
