The former hurler of the year and one of the greats to play the game, Joe Canning is the latest GAA player to go on Laochra Gael in their new season. The former five time All Star said; “felt at the time and still do, some lads blamed [him] for giving Kilkenny an extra edge.” in the 2012 All-Ireland final.

“When you read the next line, I was saying we need to be like Henry and Kilkenny, but unfortunately journalists and the media didn’t read that or didn’t want to read it because they got their headline.”

Canning admitted it was a mistake to use the term “unsportsmanlike” but that he had learned from the incident.
