Jake Paul could be set to challenge for a world title – we’re not joking

WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman has opened the door to Jake Paul challenging for a world title.

Paul, who initially made a name for himself on Vine before becoming a household name on YouTube and the Disney Channel, is now a fully-fledged boxer.

His fight with MMA legend Anderson Silva, on this coming Saturday night, will be the toughest test in his professional boxing career to date.

He hasn’t, however, taken to the ring against an ACTUAL boxer, a fact that many, for good reason, like to hold against the social media sensation.

He could soon, though, and not against just any boxer. Rather, against WBC cruiserweight world champion Ilunga Makabu.

Speaking to Fight Hype, WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman refused to the rule out the possibility of Paul challenging for a world title.

Could Jake Paul (left) challenge for a world title if he beats Anderson Silva (right)?

“Jake Paul has a record in professional boxing and he has been improving the level of opposition.”

“Of course the WBC ratings committee is open to consider fighters for rankings considering all of the different variables which are activity, level of opposition, results and so on.”

We’re working on the assumption that Paul would get smoked if he stepped up to that level. We’d like to be proven wrong, though.

The idea of a YouTuber winning a boxing world title would prove to people worldwide that even your wildest dreams can indeed come true.

It’s incredibly unlikely, obviously, but we’d be here for it.
