Has Jake Paul just admitted to rigging a fight? It certainly sounds as though he has…

Paul’s credentials as a boxer have been called into question from the first minute he put on the gloves.

He has been accused of paying Ben Askren to flop on his face and lose, inserting a ‘no-knockout’ clause into the Tyron Woodley fight contract and more dodginess.

Of course, the allegations are all completely unfounded nonsense – or are they?

The mask may finally have slipped during the first press conference of the promo tour for his bout with Tommy Fury.

Jake told the media, in an obvious attempt to belittle Fury’s fighting C.V, “He’s only been put in there with opponents that were meant to lose. This is his first real test, where his opponent isn’t some guy that’s just gonna’ flop over.”

It’s true that the fighters that Fury has fought to date are hardly world-beaters, but that’s not unusual for the early stages of a boxing career, especially with him not having amateur pedigree.

His last fight was against MMA star Anthony ‘Pretty Boy’ Taylor on the undercard of Jake Paul vs Tyron Woodley. Taylor was put in the ring to “flop over” by – *checks notes* – Jake Paul himself.

Did Jake Paul put Anthony Taylor in the ring with Tommy Fury to lose?

YouTuber The W.A.D.E. Concept made the observation while reacting to the presser, “didn’t Jake just put his sparring partner in there against Tommy? Jake is now saying out loud that they put Anthony Taylor in there to lose.”

“We knew that Anthony Taylor was not there to win, but he, as a promoter, put a fighter into a fight with Tommy Fury and paid him to lose.”

“As Dana White would say: that’s f***ing illegal.”

We’re sure he just got his words muddled up, but with the spotlight that the boxing community shines on him, Paul really ought to be more careful what he’s saying in press conferences…
