Jake Paul names six-man shortlist of potential next opponents

Jake Paul has named the six-man shortlist of fighters he is looking to take on next in the boxing ring.

Paul’s professional boxing career started off in rather farcical circumstances, with the American having fought a fellow YouTuber and defeated him within the first round of the contest.

He went on to fight Nate Robinson, a former NBA all-star, and another who was unable to make the final bell, having been left facedown on the canvas in a rather humiliating knockout.

Next came Ben Askren, who turned up with limited training in search of the payday that the fight would bring. He didn’t put up any sort of resistance and he too was knocked out.

Tyron Woodley gave him a little more of a contest, but the split decision victory in Paul’s favour ensured that there would be no end to the circus – at least no time soon.

Woodley hoped to avenge the defeat in the pair’s rematch, but he was knocked out cold by an enormous overhand right from Paul after a truly shocking six rounds of boxing.

Sadly, Paul’s professional boxing credentials have improved and as a result, there is no end in sight for his time in the sport. He already has his ideas about who he will be fighting next.

Paul told THE FIGHT with Teddy Atlas: “Floyd Mayweather, Oscar De La Hoya, Anderson Silva, Michael Bisping, Tommy Fury, Sonny Williams out of Australia.”

“There’s a lot of people on the hitlist and some other names that we’re talking to. Just trying to pick the biggest opponent.”

“Everyone I’ve fought I’ve carried the p[promotion, nobody has matched my star power so I’m looking for someone who can match my star power – we might fight in Australia, America or the UAE.”

“Oscar, if you’re watching this man get off the couch and start training because we can make this happen.”

Considering Paul previously said that under no circumstances would he fight Tommy Fury again, it’s interesting he’s included him in that list. It’s almost as if the pair will be taking to the ring this August…
