There’s canoeing and gymnastics action for Ireland in day three of the European Games in Baku.

Later this morning, Tom Brennan and Jennifer Egan will be competing in the K1 200m, with Andreij Jezierski in the canoe single 200m, and the K2 200m features Peter Egan and Simas Dobrovolskis, a former Lithuanian international now based in Kildare and representing Ireland.

Egan took seventh place in K1 500m yesterday, with the Egan-Dobrovolskis combination ninth in the K2 1000m.

This afternoon’s second day of gymnastics qualifiers take in Kieran Behan, Daniel Fox, Rohan Sebastian, Tara Donnelly, Nicole Mawhinney and Ellis O’Reilly.

After disappointments in the triathlon, Ireland’s Games haven’t got off to a rousing start yet though.

Russell White finished 36th in yesterday’s men’s triathlon, with Aaron O’Brien failing to finish, while Karen Dolphin was beaten in her three bouts in the karate qualifiers.
