Eddie Hearn has given his prediction for the proposed Deontay Wilder vs Andy Ruiz Jr bout – and it may surprise you.

Now Wilder is back active in the ring, having emphatically knocked out Robert Helenius in his comeback bout, a tussle with Andy Ruiz Jr appears inevitable.

Both fighters have publicly confirmed their willingness to go toe-to-toe in the ring, with unproblematic negotiations all that we need to see this fight come to fruition.

It’s an intriguing bout, with Wilder’s insane one-punch power likely to trouble any man, but Ruiz Jr now having firmly established himself as an elite heavyweight.

A tough one to call, no doubt, but still, that doesn’t make Eddie Hearn’s prediction any less of a surprising one. He’s quoted by talkSPORT’s Michael Benson saying:

“I really like Andy Ruiz, I thought he looked better vs Luis Ortiz, good victory, and I see him beating Deontay Wilder. Wilder is very dangerous, he’s brilliant for the sport. Andy Ruiz is a warrior.”

Do you agree with Eddie? Can Andy Ruiz Jr actually overcome the threat posed by Deontay Wilder? We dearly hope that we will be able to find out for sure before long…
