Germany has been eliminated from the World Cup in the group stage for the second tournament in a row.
After their shock opening defeat to Japan, there were worries that Germany could repeat their 2018 World Cup. When after defeats to Mexico and then South Korea they were launched out of the tournament.
Unfortunately for Hansi Flick’s men, their fears became reality when Spain’s surprise 2-1 loss to Japan, pushed them down to third place.
Serge Gnabry opened the scoring with a fantastic header in the 10th minute to put his side ahead.

Japan have topped the group and are now set to face Morocco on Tuesday night. Depending on who you ask this could be a blessing in disguise, Spain have avoided playing the historically better team in Croatia.
If 2018 is anything to go by, this will not end well for Flick and the German players.
