Bastian Schweinsteiger met with the family of Berkeley balcony collapse victim Nick Schuster before a German training session this evening.

Schweinsteiger met the Schusters at the Aviva Stadium, where Ireland will take on Germany in their penultimate Euro 2016 Group D Qualifier tomorrow.

The current Manchester United midfielder had previously met Schuster, a Bayern Munich fan, and posted his condolences after the Berkeley tragedy in June, which saw six Irish students lose their lives.

Schweinsteiger noted that he was ‘very sad’ to hear of the incident in a post which featured a photo of the pair.

“The news makes me very sad. I wish you, the family and all the members of Nick a lot of strength for this difficult time,” he wrote at the time.

“I would like to express my condolences also all other sufferers of this accident.”

Today he also posed for photos with Schuster’s younger brother, Alexei, and a Bayern jersey bearing Nick’s name.
