Frank Lampard ESCAPES driving charge… despite video of Chelsea legend on his phone

Frank Lampard has escaped punishment over allegations that he used his phone while driving – despite there being video evidence, reports the Guardian.

Lampard, best known for his time playing for both Chelsea and the England National Team, was dismissed by his former employers almost a year ago and has remained out of work ever since.

Lampard, who is married to former ‘The One Show’ presenter Christine Bleakley, landed himself in hot water after a cyclist filmed him appearing to use a mobile device while at the wheel of his car, reports the Guardian.

While you would imagine that video evidence of that nature would be pretty damning and result in a straightforward conviction, the report notes that Lampard, in no small part thanks to his lawyer (nicknamed Mr Loophole), has escaped without punishment.

A CPS spokesperson revealed that there was not sufficient evidence to pursue a conviction, with the charge against Lampard of using his phone while behind the wheel of a car having subsequently been dropped.

A lucky escape for Lamps, who will surely think twice before fiddling with his phone while driving in case of any pesky cyclists looking to catch him in the act…
