Everton player Allan has gone out of his way to make his son feel less self-conscious of his balding appearance by allowing his nine-year-old to shave his hair off after the youngster was diagnosed with alopecia.
In what can only be described as a ‘Dad of the Year’ moment the Everton midfielder gave his son Miguel permission to completely scalp him after his son was diagnosed with alopecia when he was just 4-years-old.
For those of you who do not know what alopecia is, it’s an autoimmune disease that causes people to lose all of their hair and can affect people of all ages.
Too often do professional footballers turn up with dodgy haircuts but this is one everyone can respect after picture of young Miguel giving his Dad a trim surfaced on Instagram.
Allan’s wife shared the special moment on Instagram where you can see Miguel putting the electric razor to work as he removes his Dads hair.
Allan’s wife, Thais Valentim, captioned the poignant moment by saying: ‘I thought a lot if I should bring this subject up here, because the truth is that I am not so comfortable with it.
‘I’m not sure what words to use, what to say; But after thinking and praying and receiving some questions, I came to share with you a road that we have traveled for some time. When our Miguel was 4 years old he was diagnosed with Alopecia, an autoimmune disease in which the body attacks the hair follicle itself.
‘It is severe? Does he need treatment? No. The only major problem with alopecia is aesthetics. Our Miguel is super healthy and rarely needs to take a medicine, thank God.’
