Everton player accused of child sex offences has bail extended

An Everton player who is under investigation by police over alleged child sex offences has had his bail extended, reports The Sun.

The player, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was originally arrested by police in July of 2020 after his home was raided by police and several of his possessions were seized.

The unnamed Toffees star, who is understood to be married, has been on bail ever since his arrest. As is reported by The Sun, that bail was extended on Friday.

The player was suspended by Everton after the nature of the allegations against him became clear. He has not featured for the club ever since.

As is reported by The Sun, this whole situation previously led to the misidentification of Fabian Delph as the player in question.

Delph was the recipient of offensive messages on social media and was forced to clarify that he was not the Everton player under investigation.

We await further updates on the case and will update readers in due course.
