Europa League final: What time and where to watch?

Posted by

The Europa League final takes place tonight with Inter Milan and Sevilla both looking to end their season on a high.

Sevilla ended Manchester United’s hopes of a first trophy under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a 2-1 semi-final win while Inter hammered Shakhtar Donetsk 5-0.

The big game kicks off at 8pm tonight.

Where is the game?

The Champions League and Europa League have been played out in the form of mini-tournaments due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Europa League final was originally scheduled for Gdansk in Poland but it was switched to Germany with the last eight teams battling it out there in the last few weeks.

The showpiece takes place at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne, Germany.

Where can I watch it?

Irish viewers can watch the Europa League final on Virgin Media or BT Sport.

Coverage starts on both Virgin Media One and BT Sport 1 from 7pm.

Who are the favourites?

Based on Europa League pedigree, it should be Sevilla. The Spaniards have won the competition five times since 2005, most recently in 2016.

Julen Lopetegui’s side came out on top in a tough battle against United in the semi-final and they will fancy themselves again.

If they are to add another Europa League title to their collection, play-maker Ever Banega will be crucial.

Inter boss Antonio Conte will be well aware of this though and they have their own danger man in Romelu Lukaku, who has 33 goals to his name already this season.
