England fans were delighted when the World Cup draw was made on Friday… but they actually have the HARDEST group of them all!
You’d have thought that tussles with USA, Iran and Wales/Scotland/Ukraine would see England safely through to the knockout stages of the World Cup, considering Gareth Southgate’s men are among the favourites to win it.
However, if we’re going off the FIFA rankings, which granted are often rather questionable, the Three Lions actually have the hardest group in the entire competition, which might surprise those fans who were celebrating after the draw’s conclusion.

Still, you’d expect England to make light work of their opponents and progress to the next round, but if there’s one thing that England fans have learnt over the years, it’s that matters are rarely that straightforward when the national team are involved.
They have been strong contenders for the Nations League, EUROs and World Cup in previous editions of the respective tournaments, but whether they’ll be able to go all the way in Qatar, with the tough group they have, is another matter entirely.
