Deontay Wilder has weighed in CONSIDERABLY lighter than in his trilogy fight with heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.
Wilder will be making his long-awaited return to boxing this evening against Robert Helenius, a fight he will be expected to triumph in.
Reassuringly for Wilder supporters, the American heavyweight has also returned to the weight that saw him go on an unprecedented run of victory.
As Wilder stepped on the scales ahead of his fight with Helenius, his weight of 214 1/2 lbs was a mighty 23 1/2 lbs lighter than in his last fight with Fury.
If Wilder were to comfortably dispatch Helenius with a knockout win, there would be no stopping him from returning to contention at the top of the division.
With Fury seemingly unwilling to take any serious fights and Oleksandr Usyk potentially returning to cruiserweight, there’s every chance Wilder could rule again.
We’d love to see him take on Anthony Joshua, a fight which has been spoken about so many times before but never materialised. There’d be fireworks, no doubt.
