Former Liverpool Midfielder and now TalkSport pundit Danny Murphy refused to believe the hype surrounding the Argentina national team following their shock 2-1 defeat to Saudi Arabia in their opening fixture at the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
🇦🇷 “I was looking at the Argentina team…”
🤔 “How many of those players get into the England team? Two, maybe three!”
🤷♂️ “You’d fit Lionel Messi in, and then maybe Romero if he is at it.”

For Argentina, and Lionel Messi, the real question has little to do with England, but instead focuses on whether or not they are able to rectify this defeat. Mexico and Poland are both tougher tests on paper and the two-time World Cup champions will need to drastically improve if they are to make an impact at this tournament and secure their third success in the competition.
Will seven-time Balon d’Or winner Lionel Messi be able to guide his nation to success at the World Cup and rubberstamp his status as the greatest ever to play the game, or will Argentina get dumped out of the tournament at the group stage?
