(Podcast) Former Cork Player/Manager Denis Walsh

Posted by

On this week’s podcast we sit down and talk to two time All-Ireland winner Denis Walsh. Denis comes from Ballynoe in east Cork. Denis was part of the Cork team in the 1980/90’s and played a vital part in the Cork defence in both Hurling and Gaelic football.

Denis played with his club St. Catherine’s and had massive success with his club and regional team Imokilly. Denis was a part of Cork’s historic double in 1990, when Cork won the All-Ireland in both hurling and Gaelic football in the same year. A feat that will never be done again in the GAA. [Give it a listen below]

When Denis finally hung up his boots in 2004 he decided to enter management in managing the Waterford footballers and club teams Ballyduff, Ballygunner, Carrigtwohill and now involved with Tallow in country Waterford. Denis also managed the Cork senior hurlers at a difficult time but came in and steadied the ship and the success and any future success that Cork will have, Denis can be happy that he played a part in that.

We wish Denis all the best with Tallow this year and good look in his professional job, being a financial adviser.
