Khamzat Chimaev may well now be the most unpopular fighter in the UFC after missing weight for his proposed fight with Nate Diaz.
Chimaev was due to go toe-to-toe with Diaz in the octagon tonight. The fight was considered by many as a mismatch, in favour of Chimaev.
He clearly wasn’t interested in throwing down with Diaz, though, because a monumental failure of a weight cut has seen the fight be cancelled at the eleventh hour.
Chimaev took to the scales more than SEVEN POUNDS overweight. He will now instead be fighting Kevin Holland, with Diaz facing off against Tony Ferguson.
All has ended well, but that’s not to say that the MMA community is ready to forgive Chimaev for missing weight and putting the whole event at risk.
As he took to the stage with Joe Rogan to discuss his new fight against Holland, he was showed by boos by those in attendance.
Chimaev didn’t look like he cared, sticking his middle fingers up to the crowd. That’s not going to win him back any fans, though, is it?
