Chelsea’s hierarchy have made a formal complaint to the Premier League after their team bus was left waiting outside of Villa Park for 15-minutes because.. wait for it.. The club’s stewards, who were supposed to clear the way for the coach, were stood around eating ice cream.
The Blues played Aston Villa in Sunday’s final Premier League game of the 2020-21 domestic season.
Although being beat 2-1 on the day, the Londoners were still able to sneak into the top four, thanks to a final day flurry from rivals Spurs who beat fellow contenders Leicester City 4-2.
However, the story post-match comes from the Daily Mail who report the club’s decision-makers have been left fuming after the side’s team coach was left waiting to be let into their opponent’s ground for quarter of an hour.
The report starts that the Villa Park stewards were supposed to clear the way to allow the coach entry, however, they were sidetracked as they stood around eating ice cream.
In case you were wondering what ice cream was to blame – according to the Daily Mail, the stewards were each enjoying a 99p Mr Whippy with raspberry sauce and of course, a Flake.
Excellent choice, to be fair.
