Former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has been contacted by Celtic about their vacant managers position following the resignation of Neil Lennon report Football Insider.

According to the report a Celtic source has told Football Insider that the club have made contact with Howe to assess his potential interest in the role in what has been described as the early part of their search process.

Despite being offered the position it is understood that Howe has his eye on a return to the Premier League with both Roy Hodgson and Steve Bruce looking likely to lose their positions.

Seventy-three-year-old Hodgson is out of contract this summer and Palace are hoping to hire a younger manager who can bring through the next generation.

Newcastle are are also having a terrible season which has put Steve Bruce’s job in doubt as they look increasingly more likely to be relegated.

Howe isn’t the only person linked with the Celtic job with Paul Lambert, Frank Lampard and Roy Keane all linked to the vacant Hoops position.
