BREAKING: Tyson Fury Vacates WBA And WBO World Heavyweight Titles

Tyson Fury has vacated his WBA and WBO heavyweight titles amidst an investigation into a failed drugs test.

It comes after he reportedly failed a drug test while confessing to Rolling Stones magazine that he has “done lots of cocaine.”

The undefeated boxer has been embroiled in controversy since claiming the heavyweight titles. Fury has pulled out of a scheduled rematch twice amid reports of him medically unfit to fight due to mental health concerns and a potential UKAD drug testing violation.

In a statement on Hennessy Sports the former world champ said, “I feel that it is only fair and right and for the good of boxing to keep the titles active.”

It’s likely that the two boxing organisations were going to strip the undefeated Mancunion. As a result of vacating the belts it could pave the way for a world heavyweight title showdown pitting Anthony Joshua against Wladimir Klitschko.

The Ukrainian triggered his contractual rematch though is now set to sign a deal to fight another undefeated Brit. Joshua and Klitschko are expected to throw down in December.

Fury’s uncle and trainer Peter Fury added “Tyson will be back stronger from this and I will make sure, no matter what we have to deal with, Tyson not only comes back but will claim what’s rightfully his.”
