Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte has shown off the gruesome injury he was left with following a nasty challenge by Southampton’s Stuart Armstrong.
Laporte, who scored the goal which secured the champions a point at St. Mary’s, went into a 50/50 challenge with Armstrong and came out considerably worse.
Armstrong, evidently fatigued, lunged into the challenge and planted his studs into Laporte’s thigh. He was subsequently booked, with VAR taking a closer look to determine whether it warranted a red card before letting him off the hook.
Should Armstrong have been given his marching orders, though? Perhaps. When you see the kind of condition Laporte’s thigh was left in following the studded challenge, you have to say he was lucky to stay on the pitch…
Well thanks for the souvenir lol pic.twitter.com/okzDpDytXt
